Roof tent and rack advice for D3 please
Hi Looking for some advice on the best / max tent size to fit onto the D3.
Thinking about a howling moon 1.6
I also have a G4 rack fitted so thinking I will remove and fit a slimline, but would like to hear what others have got fitted.2008 TDV6 HSE

Have you seen the Nakatanenga cargo bear rack Very flexible - not in the bendy sense of the word
Stainless and usual Nakatanenga quality.

Do you mean the prospeed ones? Great bits of kit but pricey.
I personally have a G4 type on mine - they are the coolest looking after all
On the RTT side of things. Think you can pretty much mount anything. I have a tufftrek tt02 and that fits no problem:
Quote:
DIMENSIONS:
Closed: 120cm L x 140cm W (add 1-2cm all round for travel cover access)
Open: 240cm L (bed) + 80cm Extension Length (total 320cm L x 140cm W x 1.3m H)
Weight 59kg
Lower Annex stores separately, in stuff sack - weight 12kg
Annex Foot Print is approx 2m wide x 2m long

Gosh that is expensive!
You can get a prospeed, with floor pieces and access ladder for less than £1200..D3 07 SE - still going strong

Yes I do like the G4 rack and as it was factory fitted i would like to keep it.
I was also looking at the TT02 do you have any pic's of how it's fitted as i assume you have removed the rear and side bars from the rack?2008 TDV6 HSE

If it helps, this was my set up a couple of years ago using an expo rack with cut down side rails and a howling moon 1.4 tourer.

Thanks thats very helpful and i had a measure up today and that was what i thought i would have to do.
I think i may just remove the Rack and keep it for a later refit if required. I don't want to cut it about due to having a genuine G4 rack as part of the original build of my car by Land Rover Special Ops.
i like the prospeed rack and it adds cost to the setup but would give me the ideal platform to mount the tent.2008 TDV6 HSE

I just been reading the post which is very helpful. Can I just ask if the original Landy ladder was retained after the modification to the rack ? Thanks in advance.

Here is my RTT on a "slimmed" expo rack - ladder is retained.
