'Lockdown' - Service/MOT done? |
|
Has anyone managed to get the above done lately? - Difficulties/Issues? - especially if not an 'essential user'? - felt safe? .... I'm surprised nobody's raised the issue here - especially if they've broken down..... or maybe I've not looked in the right place....?
Would be interested in your thoughts/comments please..... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

No Renault Master minibus. You didn't mention LR, besides its an MOT so the car is irrelevant. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

I had service and MOT done by the LR dealer on 15th Mar. You'll know which one - swanky showroom embarrassingly full of pointless staff, workmanship great but communication appalling, anyway, they seemingly pre-mot'd it, serviced and then MOT tested and failed it. Then rang with the outcome of pre-mot.
Anyway, apart from the horrendous management, hand gel was everywhere, and car slathered in protective plastic. They have since closed for all but essential worker emergency service and repair I believe.
Since then the same dealer group unceremoniously cancelled our Audi MOT with no attempt at keeping in touch to reschedule etc. We got that MOT done at the MOT centre on Treliske ind est. Great professional service, all reasonable distance / gloves / gel type precautions were being taken. Great honest guy, thoroughly recommend that place. As we picked the car up, the gov announced the mot extension. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

My D4 was serviced and MOT'd mid March so no issues until the mid year oil change in September (which I'll do myself). My D2 has had the 6 months MOT extension applied so no issue either. All vehicles should get the MOT extension.

A friend had a broken spring on his 4-year old Discovery Sport
The garage struggled to find a LR parts department/dealer open to order a replacement, and when he did the promised part failed to appear. This was over the last 2 weeks.
He eventually sourced a 2nd hand part from a breakers to get the car on the road in the meantime.
Parts will almost certainly be an issue if anything needs done during the service/MoT, which was my main concern with my potential cracked inlet manifold.
Other might not have problems, my local garage certainly did. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

mine was booked for mid April with local Indy, who shut down but have reopened this week. I've just re-booked for next week for 10 year service. MOT has been pushed out to November! It was due mid-May. I'm sure the service will highlight anything required anyway. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Thx for your responses - and yes sorry Moo - maybe I should have made it clearer that I was more wondering about those who normally deal with main dealers - especially those with a service plan 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

My folks had an oil leak issue with their Disco sport the other week, they called LRA who got a man out but couldn’t fix it at home so arranged for it to be recovered to the dealer who arranged for a mechanic to go in and fix it.
Our local VW dealer looks to be making plans to reopening as they have moved cars back outside.
The local TPS who supply all the VAG parts locally was told by VW UK they had to stay open to keep supplying parts as they were going to close at the same time as the VW dealer did.
