Could be a relay in the cjb (you can’t change)
Fuse or headlight switch.
I’ll find a fuse number out for you later.
I assume your headlights are on in auto ?
Tail lights could be off ?

Check for power at the switch when it’s dark. I’ll try and look up the wire colour
Or fit old switch.

Red/orange wire was the one I was thinking of checking Nat the switch when dark.

Are your parking lights working ok ?
If no, it will be a fuse under the bonnet. 10A maybe
EDIT: Fuse 25 under bonnet

I suspect there is an intermittent short with dash lights. The red wire that runs everywhere.
Rather surprised it doesn’t blow the dimmer module FET in switch.
Whatever mode (on or auto) it is in, will blow a different fuse
It may fail mot like that.
Maybe fit an inline 2A fuse (or inline 21w bulb does the same but resets itself) at the switch, in the wire for the dash lights. To help diagnostic and try and keep external lights working
