Best Tyres for D3??
Hi, So what are the best tyres for D3 255/60/18 = I am considering putting some Pirelli Scorpions on so are these going to be the best for road and a little of off road sometimes.

I have some Toyo open country a/t + on my list of next to buy for my D3 less then £400 quid supply only from camskill iv bought many a tyre from these. My current tyres are 2 or 3 mm from the wear indicator but I just know they will be crap if it snows........
Mite just get them anyways

Welcome - there is no one best tyre for a D3 or if there was they would only make one type.
It all depends on what you want them for and your budget

i use mainly for towing a horse box and this means that off road capability is required. Appreciate that many tyres do the same but just fancy the Scorpion. Budget is circa £450 fitted and balanced for 4.

Scorpions give the best grip on tarmac but you trade that for longevity, they just don’t last. On my D4 I swapped them for Goodyear Wranglers and was immediately happier rise wise as the Scorps were about shot, plus they were easily going to last double that of the Scorps. The Disco is very capable with standard road tyres, but be aware their nemesis is slick wet grass, often called green ice.

I just put a full set of bridgestone hp sports on. I Just changed from the uniroyal 4x4 rally steet. I can say that the uniroyal were an awesome road holding tyre. And Brilliant in the wet. And they did surprisingly well off road. they have a very agressive V pattern on them id asume for rain dispersal. If the bridgestone can perform as good as the uniroyals ill be happy. Im hopeing to get 40k kms out of themDicovery 3 (Rimini Red)

However, here's my +1 for Pirelli Scorpion ATR even though it's outside your budget.D1 300Tdi - gone

now I don't know if this will help you but I have a 2006 d3 with 18" Pirelli atr's fitted great all round tyres been on all year been great however I just purchased a 2013 d4 that has currently got new 19" grabber gt's fitted and I don't like them at all have no feel and seem very vague at the front (they look underinflated all the time)
in my shed I have another set of 18" wheels with almost new Pirelli atr's that I got from dsl (del) that I will be trying on the front to see if they will fit over the discs,if they do that todays job for me as the grabber gt's are rubbish after driving on atr's for the last 2 years,go for the Pirelli's if you can stretch to them as a poor set of tyres can change a good car into an average carplease excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Now that ^^^^^^ is forward planning.
So glad I decided not to put the new tyres on the D3 before heading out to Scandinavia, it would been a crime to scrap her with brand new rubber on.

I would get some AT tyres if you don't want to look a muppet getting stuck on a muddy field towing 3000K of trailer and horse. Been there done that got AT tyres. Even with AT tyres you need to think about where you stop if you have a choice so you can get a run-up if the field is on a hill.
