Discovery 4 2010 SDV6 XS Front Diff?
Hi All
I would like some advice. My 2010 disco 4, with 75K has been making a 'washing machine' like sound when driving at a constant low speed (30mph).
Also, when you let off the accelerator on the motorway or A road, it makes a humming noise (on over run).
The other noise it has, which may be unrelated, is that it makes a metallic grinding noise around right hand bends like a round about.
I also get the feeling that the front wheels scrub a little when turning at low speed.
Pre COVID 19, I had the car diagnosed as needing a new front diff (they were going to put another diff into it, not rebuild mine). This was going to be covered under warranty, but then I was told I only had 14 days to get the job done before the claim expired, which I have been unable to do for obvious reasons so now I am stuck.
I poked my nose under it earlier to see, if during lock-down, I could strip it down and do the job myself. When I have looked underneath, I have noticed there are oil drips from the lower bolts on the transfer box casing.
I am at a loss and totally gutted about the warranty. I might tackle the job myself but I'm not really sure where to start. I'm not even sure if it is the diff, with oil leaking from a completely different area!
I'm reluctant to get rid of it without at least getting my hands dirty (plus the amount of money I would lose).
Any help would be most appreciated.

Won’t the warranty be valid when these restrictions ease??

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
I doubt it as they have cancelled the claim because the invoice wasn't submitted within 14 days.
The warranty doesn't appear to worth the paper it is written on, let alone the how much it cost me.
They seem to do anything to get out of paying money out.
