New Steel Bumper and Swing Away Tire Carrier
Thought I'd share some pics of my new rear bumper. One of the guys in our local club, Texas Rovers, just completed a new steel bumper and swing away carrier for my LR3. He did a fantastic job! His name is Chad, and he is a jeweler by trade. His attention to detail is quite evident in the final product. There were minimal modifications to the truck for the install. It has a mount for a Hi-Lift as well. He can be contacted at discodefender@gmail.com with questions.
Just a question - by the sounds of it, this is a "one off" piece from a fellow club member. Do you not have any type-approval issues in the US? (just curious ).
I like the set up as well The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeksnearly 4 weeksover 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

nope. no approval issues in the US. chad spent a good bit of time coming up with a design that integrated well with the D3 lines, required minimal modification to the D3, and improved the departure angle a bit. i think he would like to produce some more if people are interested. he made a really nice dual swing away carrier/bumper for a P38 recently as well. i have no financial interest in the bumpers, but am so pleased that i wanted to pass it along in case anyone else was interested.

I love your bumper / wheel carrier. It came out _great!_
So, being how a full Kaymar rear bumper + wheel carrier + jerry can holder costs _over_ $3000 now in the States, I figured I'd contact the guy who fabricated yours. Unfortunately he said he's not up for doing them right now, but might consider in a year or two. Darn!
$3000+ for a Kaymar set-up is NUTS in my opinion. I was expecting the full set-up somewhere around $1750 shipped.
And I just found out, too, that the Long Ranger aux fuel tank doesn't work on our North American models. Due to our tanks using metal fittings and all others using plastic. Darn again!
I was planning on doing a full set-up with: ARB bull bar, Kaymar rear bumper w/ wheel carrier + jerry can holder and a Long Ranger aux fuel tank. My dream bubble has been burst.
