I just cracked the housing of my RHS mirror after an evasive action on a narrow road. The (electrical) mirror is still working fine, and the mirror glass is undamaged.
I went to the dealer to have the housing replaced and they told me that the housing is not sold separately: I should replace the entire mirror assembly @ 200+ euros That sounds very stupid to me, can anyone confirm/deny that the mirror housing can't be replaced? 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

Sadly your dealer is right. I cracked the LHS housing on mine and even with Nick's D3 discount it's the better part of e140 plust postageI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
Would the chrome mirror finshing cap be enough to hold the parts together or cover the damage - it may be cheaper that way
