United Kingdom 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 GS Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3
[For Sale] Discovery 3 GS 2.7 – suspension fault PRICE DROP

For sale is my Land Rover Discovery 3 GS in Tonga Green, 2.7 TDV6, manual.

130,000 miles. FSH at main dealers and LR independent specialists, both belts done, new compressor, new clutch and dual mass flywheel, poly bushes, various other bits all with receipts. MOT till July.

Always well maintained with preventative work done where possible. Mainly used as a second car for camping trips.

Washed monthly (properly), clayed and waxed every few months.

Great condition inside and out, smoke free, never used for towing, starts and drives great.

7 seats, air con, rear parking sensors, no sunroof.

Includes side steps, front and rear LR rubber mats, aftermarket Kenwood stereo with CD and Bluetooth.

Winter-ready with oversize 17" A/T tyres.

I can also include a Land Rover Expedition roof rack for an additional cost of £650.

Based on my investigations with soapy water it needs a new front air suspension bag, hence reduced price. I am reluctant to sell as this is an simple fix, but I was made redundant in December and so can't afford the repair right now. EPB will need cleaning soon too.

NOW NOT FOR SALE – see thread below

Probably a daft question, but, still driveable ? How broke is it ! Oh what's involved with the brake ?

Totally driveable, works fine at regular height, drives really well.

There is a leak in the airbag based upon my investigations with soapy water.

A new airbag should remedy it, expect it to cost £600ish from a decent Indy garage, hence price reduction.

I can’t afford to repair and run it at the moment so need to downsize to something cheaper.

Parking brake needs a clean, it is a simplish maintenance job or you can get a garage to do it. If you search Bodsy’s Brake Bible it shows you how to do it on this forum.

I may attempt to do it myself if I get a break in the weather but it’s non stop rain here at the moment!

This seems a real tidy one.

Why don’t you sell your roof rack for the £600, then get the suspension sorted? You could easily get your money back/more for the Disco.

Thanks G3Z. I have debated that, but with losing my job in December I need to cut down on running costs as well.

Also I was harbouring a hope of buying another Disco when work picks up again Whistle so I was going to hang on to the rack! If it doesn’t sell I may have to do as you advise though.

I've just replaced all the struts and airbags on my Disco3. If you want to keep the car then you're welcome to one of the ones I took off the car as I still have them in the garage. It's an easy replacement if you're even remotely competent on the tools. SORN it and stick it in the corner of your drive until cash is a little easier.

Hate to see a man have to get rid of a car he loves just because of a short term cash flow issue.

PM me if of interest.

Paul

Guys, honestly reading this made my day.

Very kind offers from both of you so hats off and thank you. Class acts.

Today I have potentially been given a large bit of work, so I may be able to keep the Disco – what a difference a day makes!

I am going to put the sale on hold for now until I know when the my work is sorted.

pgerman and Sea Raider – I may well take one of you up on your offer if fitting the airbags is a simple(ish) job. My reason for delaying is I will need to buy some axle stands and a high lift jack, so I will need to see when I can get paid next before committing to doing the work myself.

Thanks again, you guys have really helped.
