Oil leak around RHS of radiator
Hi everyone,
I was just about to top up the power steering fluid on the disco and noticed there was oil around the A/C pipes and end of the radiator, but I can't tell where it is coming from, and i'm not aware of any oil pipes in this area, anyone got any ideas?

Hi
If ur taking about the pipe with the jubilee clip that’s the return pipe to the automatic gearbox
On mine I cleaned it all up and fitted 2 x small jubilee clips on the hose, all sorted
Also it looks like u have the old style front axle breather , have included the part number for the new part
Plus wouldn’t hurt to check ur gearbox oil level it it’s been leaking for a long while

Found the pic on what I done ref that return pipe and jubilee clips
Plastic fitting is just where I extended the front diff breather pipe round to the aux battery tray well out of the way , can see it at the back in the second pic, don’t need to do that , was just personal preference
Hope that’s helps

Thanks for the response!
Now I feel a bit silly as I changed the gearbox oil only 3 months or so ago and identified that pipe as a potential filling point must have forgotten all about it!
is it possible I have too much oil in the gearbox? I'm fairly confident I set the level right when refilling it, whilst running and about 45 degrees and allowing excess to trickle out the fill plug until it was just a tiny drip.
Or is there a breather on the gearbox that could be blocked?
I don't think it's been happening long as its not driven much at the moment, i'm just curious as to why it would have started whether something else could be wrong e.g. blockage or if its just sods law that it's happened to start leaking?

Hi
Glad it helped , as far I’m aware the oil level plug is refitted at 40c
Does seem it’s quite common for that hose to leak , I just fitted 2 x clips as an extra prevention of it laning again to which it hasn’t

Does seem quite common for that return hose to leak and indeed doesn’t take much to clean it up

I’m happy that the gearbox has the right amount of oil in it, it certainly runs better now, it used to hunt around and go into limp mode before draining it changing the filter and refilling + 2 tubes of shudder fix!
Will have a go at putting 2 jubilee clips on it and clean it up and leave it for a while, thanks for all the info!
Also why the updated breather? Does the old one let water into the diff or just get blocked up?

Hi
Sounds ok
I cleaned it all up before I removed the hose, less mess, lol , then put a few cloths underneath the hose, as I removed it lifted it up to stop any drops of oil coming out , slide the 2 x clips on, then cleaned the outlet before refitting
The front axle breather can block up which can cause the front diff seals to leak because it can’t release the pressure , assume that’s why they done a modified breather
