Gearbox issue.
Put some dr tranny in me gearbox yesterday as a temp fix til I can afford a mega flush.
Today did a 350 mile drive to London and it’s had a weird issue. First 100 odd miles it was juddering during acceleration and up hills. Then suddenly it was fine. It was exactly like it was supposed to be. The only thing was it showed up transmission fault on the dash and wouldn’t go into sport/manual mode. This isn’t a problem for me.
Stopped for a brew and the code reset itself and I was back to the juddering. For the rest of the journey (150 miles) it continued being Juddery through acceleration and also jumping between 1500-2000 rpm. If I was cruising over 2000 rpm it was fine.
Plugged it in when I stopped and got the code in the picture.
What’s confusing me is the fact it ran like a dream while the fault was live, but not when it wasn’t??
Any ideas?

Your only option right now might be to do a flush and hope that sorts it.
If you have covered more than 80k miles and the fluid has not already been changed, it might also be wise to remove the sump pan so the solenoid can be checked and the filter replaced as well.
Leaving as it is might make things worse.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Well I’m currently in London with a 350 mile drive home on Monday. So will have to have a proper look at the solenoid and filter then.

While the error is on the dash it won’t lock up the torque converter (or whatever ) and therefore it drives ok.
It’s not a simple job to check solonoid unless you know what you are doing.
A diy flush is economical solution. Wear gloves as u have added dr tranny.
And save your money as a recon gearbox is likely to be required.

Is there any way of forcing the error back so it stops locking up?

I think the only way would be to disconnect the solonoid. But that isn't as simple as unplugging it as its not a cable.
plus you would have to know which one it was, and drain the oil etc.
So not sensible.
GAP would make some money if they could create modified programs !

Hi,
Sounds like Torque Converter to me. I am just putting mine in this morning to be done.
My understanding from the workshop manual is that cruise control stops the TC from locking up, however mine still surges.

I also agree.
Mine is in today also, purchased a Bristol Transmissions TC and getting a recommended Garage to fit.
Shame I have to come over to the Mainland to do it, but hey ho.
Mine did also improve when on Motorway driving...maybe linked to cruise control.
Just no Motorways where I live

Probably me that recommended them
Top lads.
Get them to do your 4 wheel alignment at same time. Only place I take mine as they lock it in tight tolerance mode Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I think it was Paul from Advanced Factors...
No point with the wheel alignment, rear upper control arm bushes are fubarred.
But will keep it in mind...
I guess not many have to take a boat to get wheel alignment done
