Clock froze off my instrument cluster - can't get it back!
Just back from Canada where the temperatures were extremely low. It seems that at -28C the cold did something odd to my Disco 3 (2006 V8 ). I went out to start her up and whilst she didn't exactly leap into life, the engine started after perhaps a couple of seconds. Anyway, the dash display was a bit confused and probably frozen. Since then the dash clock (that I added using my IID tool) shows as --:--
I've tried a hard reset (terminals together for 30 sec) but - surprisingly - no joy. I'm loathed to do the full ECU update using the tool and wondered if there's anything else I can try, eg a simple fix using the IID tool, perhaps, without the full enchilada process.
Grateful for any ideas.
(PS - the low temps also reminded me why (a) I used to spray silicone on all the door seals at the start of winter (forgot to do it this year so my doors were frozen closed), and (b) why nosey parking is a bad idea in a car park - denies one the ability to connect jump leads, which I feared I'd need when I saw how low the temps were; thankfully she started).PAGODA

Your battery might be low(ish).
I had the same just before my battery decided to give out 9 V instead of 12 V. I got told, upon investigation, that one of the cells had failed.

So, for clarity, tried the hard reset. Wondered if there's a midpoint with the IID short of the nuclear nail-biting option.PAGODA

Your battery needs charging with a smart charger before it lets you down completely as the next stage is a none starting engine.
p.s. you can do a soft reset with the Iid which will bring the clock back to life unless your battery is very low on charge It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
