D4 2010 - restricted performance |
|
my D4 will occasionally flag the restricted performance red triangle, turn car off and restart and it will be fine.
it only tends to be triggered when pulling away after starting on a slight incline/ramp. restart and it will clear and never to be seen for several hundred miles.
anyone any idea, i've a basic reader and nothing obvious.

If you have access to a GAP IID (or can persuade someone in your area to let you use theirs) then get the codes read and post them up on here ! Will make diagnosis much easier I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Fault code: P1247-00 low boost pressure
took to my Independent specialist, booked for further investigation as they couldnt see anything specific, but they did say it sounds very inductiony

I get that error sometimes, but a simple restart does not clear it. I think of you stop for 10-15 minutes it will though. I get it shortly after starting when the engine is warm.
I have put it down to a sticky actuator on the secondary turbo, as it tends to appear when I have not used the secondary turbo for a while. I have changed driving style to pull higher revs on a few more occasions, which appears to help.
Ultimately, it is something I can live with, as when it happens I just pull over, read and clear the codes.
Regards,
Steve

We have the same, very intermittent, fault on a customer car right now.
No pattern to when it happens. Hot, cold, uphill, downhill, low revs, high revs. Smoke tested both air and exhaust side, nothing. Checked vacuum controls, nothing. Cleaned and check wiring, nothing. Live data to monitor actuator status, boost pressure (MAP), airflow (MAF), nothing. EGRs, nothing. Shut off valve, nothing.
The only thing slightly off is the DPF shows 22g of soot (inferred). But this is not enough to ping up "DPF full - visit a dealer". Besides, if this was an issue, it would cause a constant problem.
I'm not too proud to accept any suggestions. As my moto goes "Those in the know, know. Those that don't know, just need to ask"
This is a first for me Joe

Hi I have a similar problem at the moment. I was getting restricted yellow triangle but now is kicking the red triangle. It is intermittent but I have noted comes on when I use the flappy paddles. I have also noted a squealer on the passenger front when turn slightly right but this could be a wheel bearing or just the pads on brakes need a change. Just hope is nothing to do with Turbo as this is a body off on my disco 4 HSE 2013. Will find out more this Monday as booked in for diagnostics. Have booked in for this and also FUEL FILTER change as this is not even done on any SERVICE. Ive had the car 4 years now and thought on major service this is done but I've been told this is an extra.

Mine is all fixed £2k later
turned out to be crossover pipe leaking, so had pipe done and a small EGR pipe at same time as it looked brittle.
now drives like a totally different vehicle!

Happy reading
thx for the link
Okay so have code P006A-00 Manifold absolute Pressure- Mass or volume Air flow correlation -no subtype information
Also have Turbocharger boost pressure low- No sub type information.
mechanic showed me when rev engine 3 thou or more foam covering the inlet was bellowing out. Showing cracked inlet. £600 for the both left and right inlets and I am to supply parts.
Now is the turbo boost pressure low because of the inlets or in your opinion was it the Turbo that back fired blowing the inlets? Any thoughts?

Can you tell me did your engine management light also appear as what you have said is emissions and therefore should appear on the dash warning lights? That is of course if your talking about the crossover at the back of the engine BODY OFF at the price you mentioned

the warning was the RED triangle for Restricted performance. no other lights.
the crossover pipe links the turbos and from what I understand it was a bad leak fumes were smelt within the vehicle
