1. Every 2 years or 30,000 miles (48,000 km): Replace fuel filter element. For additional information, refer to Fuel Filter Element - VIN Range: SALLA000304->END OF 06MY (310-01 Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.7L Diesel)
For additional information, refer to Fuel Filter Element - VIN Range: 07 MODEL YEAR->CURRENT (310-01 Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.7L Diesel)

2008 Discovery 3 diesel filter replacement
Good day
This is my first post on this forum.
I would like to know if someone has advise to replace the filter.
I have had my LR3 serviced by an independent company and have had to replace the diesel fuel filter 3 times due to leaking profusely from the drain plug.
I have now decided to purchase a genuine LR part and fit is myself - the leaking is so bad that I have to do this due to the service centre I use being closed over the festive season.
I have had a lot of difficulty to remove the filter due to the cross member and I am worried I might damage the new one putting it back. It seems as if there is not enough space....
Also, the new one was supplied with 2 o-rings which I cannot figure out where they go as the old one I removed did not have any.
Any assistance will be much appreciated

Hi, I posted some photos on how to do this a year ago. Try searching for "post 07 fuel filter" and it may help you. Sorry, I can't work out how to post a link.

The larger o ring goes around the main screw on thread and the smaller one replaces the one you'll see when you remove the 'water in fuel' sensor. When you take it off and remove the yellow sensor it all becomes obvious

A picture is worth a thousand words, and seeing that you were missing the o-rings to start with, this may assist you.

Fuel Filter
Just to add another point, massively important to align the filter correctly when fitting using the symbols of the unlocked and locked padlocks, I also found that unlike other fuel filters you do do not need to pre- fill the new filter with new clean diesel.
Happy new year to all

Sensor or not
Hi all,
I wanted to change fuel filter on my diesel but made the misstake not to buy also the "frying pan" plastic drainage and when I use the new small o-ring,the o-ring will not seal. Order one from UK will take 1,5 week and buy one here in Sweden will cost a fortune.
If I use the non sensor plastic which was mounted on filter and skip the sensor function, will I get error codes and if so,can I block that error with my GAP tool?
Good side is that I now must start up my old oneten to be able to go to work.
Thanks/Johnny

Just changed my fuel filter and discovered the "water in fuel" sender is missing and therefore the drain pipe.
The old filter had been fitted just as it came out of the box, therefore the 2 'o' rings are not needed. Also meant the system did not need bleeding.
Tricky to get into place and turn but doable.
