The part may cost more to get a complete unit, but you'll save loads of time and won't run the risk of a leak from a bad seal on a corroded strut.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I looked into this when my front struts were leaking
Bought a complete unit in the end because as mentioned it’s ensuring u can get a 100% seal again on old components
Plus I imagine the struts will also be very worn, was like night and day when I replaced complete struts on mine

So does anyone think it’s worth using better dampers with new bags? I’m guessing it’s probably better to save the time/money and go with OEM but change them a bit more often. At 170,000 miles they’re definitely a lot more bouncy than they used to be!

Air suspension is a funny and most dampers are not rated to handle it as the bags provide zero resistance unlike std mechanical springs coil or leaf.
