Uploader problem still happening

I think there's still a problem with upload. I was trying to upload some piccies last night and it kept bombing out if I tried to upload more than 1 or 2 images at a time. One a time worked reliably, two at a time bombed out a bit, and more than that didn't work at all. Sad

The problem's been happening for a few weeks I think, as I have had it before. I'm on 2Mb ADSL, but only get about 512Kb upload speed. The filesizes are around 1Mb each.

Rob

It's probably the gallery timing out. Unlike Facebook, Flickr, etc etc, which use a Java-based upload script, the DISCO3 gallery currently uses (and has always used) HTTP upload to transfer files between your PC and the site.

Even though internet speeds appear to be getting faster, and digital cameras are producing much larger photos but upload speeds are still relatively slow in comparison. It is the time required to "push" the photos from you to the PC which causes a problem. The current workaround is to upload one photo at a time, which I appreciate is a pain but will get your photos on.

I am looking at implementing a Java based upload system which will fix this permanently, however I can't say when it'll be ready at it as there are other things to develop first Smile
