My discovery 3 project-2007 2.7tdv6 GS
The story begins as I always wanted a Landrover , but had never got round to it, then I was offered a dead one at a in missable price! I was roped off the issue was a major fuel leak and all the pipe would need replacing as they were corroded.
Now that the fuel lines were plastic on a disco 3 I decide led to buy and investigate further. After the car emptied it’s tank all over my feet after switching on the ignition I soon realised that the leak was actually just the filter and the water sensor which was broken. With this repaired the car fired up after a bit of cranking and ran like a dream - however it is never this straightforward is it ??
After a small road test the dash was lit up like Christmas and it was in limp home mode showing a HDC fault - at this point after trying a new battery just to rule it out I decided it was best to get it plugged in and have the codes read - ended up at at local specialist who reckoned after ruling out a few other basics as I’d already done them that is was a HPFP fault and the pump was breaking up inside - fault code was showing low fuel pressure and as the filter had already been done we could rule it out...
A few days later I bit the bullet and ordered a new HPFP after 5hours of work to remove - nearly every nut and bolt is blind and out of sight ! - new pump arrived and was fitted a few days later - similar job to refit but always seems to go back together faster. After a few cranks of the key the engine fired up and all faults had gone , for now!
Next was a new mot - which it duely failed on, but nothing too bad.
Rear brake pipes both sides (luckly the front to rears had already been done, so to had most of the bottom arms and usual suspension bushes).
With the brake pipes replaced and a couple of new wipers it’s all fixed and up and running, I have changed the front bumper and grill and fitted some headlamp grills, oh and got a replacement set of alloys and fitted new 4 tyres so fingers crossed should be ok for a year or two !
Was hoping to get involved with a bit of green landing to begin with and then if needed look at helping out with the 4x4 response team if there is any in my area (northwest/Liverpool)

Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Welcome along
I had similar issues with my 08 D3. Changed the HPFP and all was sorted. Was also a GS so if you need any ideas on mods just give me a shout. It’s a great base vehicle for mods and upgrades

I agree the GS is a good base model - so far all I have done is change the grill - put a fully coloured coded front bumper on with fogs and fitted some 18” alloy with slightly wider tyres.
What did you do to yours ?

Oh yeah went off road in it
Depends what you call local. The Lakes or North Wales have loads of lanes for all levels. The Old Coach Road in The Lakes is a nice easy lane with stunning views. This was the last time I went in the D4 with a mate.
And this is one of my favourite photos of my D3, pre facelift.
There’s a few members around these parts who go out on a regular basis. Best thing is to tag along on one or two of them D4 MY15 SE TECH

Looks great - lakes or wales I thought should be do-able ......
I’ve fitted a set of new tyres but they are only Dunlop grandtrek AT20’s ..... they are a m+S tyre but not an aggressive off road one , do you think they would be ok / what tyres have you been off road with ?

As mentioned they are extremely capable on road tyres. All the LRE cars are running road tyres
The Old Coach Road is a very easy drive not it’s had some repairs done. Also Bomber Lane near Barmouth is another easy lane with great views over the estuary. I’ve done both on my own without issue but would always advise going in a group D4 MY15 SE TECH

Ok thanks for that, maybe one day I could tag along with some of you guys off here ?
My old man puts his caravan down in Barmouth so that could be one to check out- as I think I’ll be towing it there for him next summer!
