So.. my wife and i made a little mistake tonight, we thought (well i thought and she agreed) that as is was raining and we had a free evening, it might be nice to have a little drive round and explore some local lanes. it was a little dark. we found the first lane.. was a little boring, quite pretty but not challenge for the mightly Disco 3... the we found the next one.......... as we headed down the first bend, we both though "wonder if we should / can reverse out of here?" "Nah, lets carry on and see if we can turn around.." it seems we couldnt. the poor truck was bashed from all dirrections. The ruts on the lane grabbed the off-road tires and dictated my route through... we ended up following the whole lane cringing allllllll the way.
Good news is we got to the end and the old girl did well. No sign of any damage at all ( may need a t-cut) but we did loose the Air Ram from our snorkel!! I located it but not before I ran it over!.
So can anyone tell me where I can get a new air ram (cheap) and failry quickly (85mm) ?
Better news is that my better half says i'm only 90% responsible for the terrifying trek.. so that means i'm of the hook then.....

Someone went down "my" lane this evening, and I thought they will scare themselves - was it you ?

Come on, which local lane was it?
As another Clanfield resident I'm interested.
Oh, and I'd be surprised if anything bigger than a Motorcycle could make it down your lane at the moment Nigel, last time I walked it with the dog a couple of months ago it was very overgrown about two thirds of the way down.

I used to lane by myself all the time in the middle of the night, really nice way to spend a few hours, not good for any car that values its paintwork.
Mostly it must be said from damage from people with 4x4s traversing it in adverse weather & ploughing up the surface, which is then eroded by rain.
It's mud on chalk, and quite steep in places. The centre has been so eroded that the surface is "V" shaped, and you can't easily, if at all, drive with one wheel towards the bottom of the V, and one towards the top because of the lane is so narrow, and there are a couple of sharpish corners. Neighbours fencing has been damaged by cars slithering into it.
Sadly after years of towing or winching people out I have given up, as they ignore warnings, get stuck and then are rude.
The LA are looking to close part of the lane to cars & motorcycles in the winter to those who are not frontagers.
Sadly those who are causing the problem are mostly "yobbish" motorcyclists, those of us with 4x4s are intelligent enough to recognise the problems.

I need to make it very clear - I am NOT ranting about Stephen, the OP, Nasher & other local forum members - you are all welcome in Old Lane, as long as you don't traverse it - just give me warning & pop in for a drink. Am I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

I thought for a second, with all this discussion of going out in the dark down country lanes, and lights.....that I’d stumbled onto some dogging thread....I was about to ask where and when but.....

Ooo, Vienna Green ?
I have the same colour and was wondering what facelift lights would look like. Any chance of a full side picture too, I am thinking about changing to the HSE alloys - mine is an SE spec so on 18s which I don’t overly like.
Yes. Interesting colour. Not one I went out for but it grew on me as unusual (but matches the new lego defender.
Will do a side shot later on
SHMBO told me ONLY to look at HSE Discos when we got this one.

If I am honest I only went to look at my one as it was the most local car for sale when I was looking to buy, but the colour did grow on me. I also wanted a hse, but someone spec’d my one very well from the factory which was nice.
Unfortunately they didn’t bother upgrading the alloys !
