Hi, had my ECO light come on the dash, a little homework tells me the stop/start battery could need charging or it’s goosed. Basically can I charge it without disconnecting it or if I charge the main battery are they both connected, please help

Yes, just connect with croc clips they are not connected, highly likely it’s goosed assuming the SS does not work, Tayna have some next day delivery abut £40. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had same on mine.
Checked with a voltmeter (with car engine not running) and was reading 11.5V. Tried to charge with my CTEK charger (whilst in the car and via direct connection as has been said) but after a short while on charge it showed it was faulty.
Replaced for about £40 as mentioned above. Straight swap out with no BMS battery reset required. Fault solved.
I’ve read there are other faults that can cause the Eco light to come on so if you can, check the battery first.
When changing the battery, the red +iv plastic cover can be a pain to lift / unclip. It levers up from the side nearest the windscreen
Good luck Gary

Hi, and thanks very much for the info, I put my meter on it today without the engine running and it read 10.7 v , I know it’s a stupid question but I believe it should be 12 v ?? Thanks again. And finally, has the eco light stopped off

Ho Gornalhills
That battery sounds shot. yes should be well over 12V. That battery powers equipment when the engine stops so must be the normal 12+ volts.
After replacement the Eco light stayed off and has done so for 9 months now.
If you have any queries or want more info I can share my experiences of replacing. It's a straight swap out.
The link below has details of the replacement part number. The LR original is about £150, where as exactly the same battery without a LR label (Exide EK151) for my car was about £40. You don't include any details of your car in your profile (suggest you update that to make the forum more useful for you) so can't be sure yours is the same battery. Mine is a 2015 MY16 D4.
Cheers Gary

Hi Gary, thanks again for replying. Yes I definitely need to update my profile, I have a 2014 D4 Xs, only had it three months. My old D3 and sport didn’t have a second battery as you probably know so it’s all a bit new to me. I wasn’t quite sure as to what duties the second battery had control off but I now know at 10.7 v it definitely needs changing, it seems quite simple to change, two leads off and the little buried 10mm nut on the clamp. Thanks again for providing the battery ref, mine is also the 3.0 so I would say the same
