Disco Landmark Rear Screens

So after swopping my disco 3 for a RR Vogue, we then swopped to a Discovery Sport HSE Luxury, a lovely ‘car’ to drive but after purchasing a twin axle caravan my husband had no faith in it towing! So i now have a Discovery 4 Landmark 2016 😍😍 only issue with it (up to now) is i cannot get the rear screen on the drivers side to work with the remote control 🤷🏼‍♀️ I took it into LandRover as being blonde i thought it may be me but they can only get it to work on the passenger side too, i can control the drivers side form the front but just wondered if anyone else had this problem? Thankyou!

I must be blond as I don’t get your problem.

Am I right in thinking the rear drivers side window won’t open on the remote but the other 3 do?

Well done for getting shot of the Sport and getting the Real Thing back! Thumbs Up

The RSE in LR’s in notoriously vulnerable to software glitches and there’s a good chance that a reflash of the infotainment software (and an upgrade to the last version that they wrote) may actually fix the problem. I’d try that before investigating any hardware problems Thumbs Up

I have had the same problems with this system. Land Rover do not make anything easy, it can be done, but it’s complicated. Took me ages to fathom how to get both screens to play the same dvd. I’m sure there’s nothing wrong, you just have to sit there and persevere. Good luck

Yep, same issue, faulty cable, trapped under drivers seat. Main Dealer repaired under warranty. All fine since.

Thanks, everything will play on the screen, dvd’s, tv etc but its just when i try and change channel with the remote it is like its just not recognising the signal on just that screen, if a cable was trapped would the screen work at all? And yes the car is amazing after the sport, like being home 😍😍

Woops, get it now, if the screens not coming on it sounds like you have a bad wire in the power side and I suspect the earth. If you raise the seat up, look underneath and you will find 2 connectors at the back on the cross support. Make sure they are connected. Do the same for the 2 connectors at the front (not the big seat one) and make sure those are connected. If they are, undo the back bottom cover on the seat back and deal/follow the wires. Sometimes the clip comes away and lets the wires catch and snag on the internal seat frame, esp. if adjusting the headrest.

Yes if you make sure you select the screen on the front and remote, either screen should work with the remote, for example pause a movie, the drivers sides screen works fine but wont work with the remote like the passenger one does. I presumed the remote was faulty but them why does the passenger one work? If the screen is faulty then why can i watch films, tv etc? Driving me mad, i e checked the wires and they all look fine 🤔🤔🤔

That's pretty much exactly what mine was doing, and as I say, main dealer fixed and said it was a faulty wire under seat. Unfortunately I know no more, as the dealer fixed it not me...

Just to be certain, are you able to operate both rear screens from the front tv screen controls?

Presume you have used the "sync" on the front to make rear right and rear left both play the same?

After having "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory" played three times over on a long trip, children are now banned from my car Whistle

Your problem here is that the screens are to clever. They are actually mini computers connected to the RSE module by a LIN (Brown/white and Brown/yellow). The RSE is then connected to the FCDIM by MOST.

It sounds like either the right screen select button on the control isn’t working or perhaps the IR receiver on the screen is dirty/damaged. If you have the screen on it’s not the power or signal, if you get the Land Rover logo on that screen it’s not the LIN. Can you get the codes read?

There is a way to check but it does mean pulling the headrests out and switching them over.
