Is your crank snapped?

If the crank is snapped there is no return for the engine, it would have to be line bored and new crank and conrods would have to be put in and even then it would be a gamble.
This involves a lot of work so better search for a replacement engine but of course inspect the crank and do a compression test since some of the 2,7 l engines also had compression issues.
Do the oil pump and cambelt on the replacement engine and since engine is out the replacing the con and crank bearings are quite easy.

If the crank has snapped it's scrap!

If you can find a Jaguar S Type it's the most cost effective route. Swap over the EU4 components if that's relevant, replace the bearing shells, and with a new oil pump, belts, and timing chains you'd have a very strong replacement.

Replacement is the only way to go, but never forget the compression test on all cylinders.
A dummy to put in the injector hole for the test is a cheap item and only involves removal of injectors witch is a easy task even with the engine in place instead of removing all glow plugs with involves a lot more work and the risk of snapping them wich leads to a new problem and the 2,7 l has issues with stuck glow plugs but get it tested.
Several of theese engines suffered from compression issues as mine had and i replaced all the pistons because they where collapsed in the ring grooves and could not get new set of rings in.
A bit of reasearch pays back several times.
Remember all say engine is good but why is it on the scrapyard then ?
The mother of all possible faults is the video on youtube.com search fore:

Already got a jag s type (90k miles) drove it around for a couple of weeks pulled well with no issues. Removed ladder frame today found 3 snapped rods (rear) Pistons destroyed and holes all over crankcase.so totally scrap I'll see wot the heads are like but not holding out much hope

There will probably be snapped lifters and bendt valve stems and even when damaged parts are replaced it will have to be skimmed and checked for craks.
When a cylinder head is skimmed the head gasket should be adjusted accordingly to maintain distance between valves and pistons.
Nor worth the hassel in my opinion.

I put a new set of bearings in mine and works fine.
