Am I allowed to name recommend specialists by name ? Following a tip from my local C London general mechanics, I visited a company who specialise in rebuilding auto gearboxes in Hornsey, north London - a small firm who've been at this for 50 years.
Rather than take my cash for potentially unnecessary work today, eg fluid flush & gearbox filter, they took the car a test drive instead, after which they were certain the gearbox is fine, good for another 50k-100K miles, and felt the other power loss cause was most likely due to exhaust back pressure as the cat is starting to break up.
