Controversial I know.
I have been loading up the back of the D3 this afternoon and not for the first time have thought how awkward it is to load. Especially when trying to reach right into the back.

IMO the split tailgate is the best thing ever now that one is used to it.

While I’d like to be built like Dwayne Johnson, I’m only 184 cm and eat way less pancakes each morning.

Just put the pancakes in the furthest forward part of back of the D3, go for a road trip and hunger will show how easy it is to reach them.

I think the split could be half the size and still work as a seat. Unless you have a fat ar se of course. An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory.” ― Millard Fillmore

too much fuss about that split tailgate
how useful is it really apart from landing your heavy ass on it???
in 9 out of 10 cases it is only in the way
yes one would say you can stand on it to reach for something? how many times in the life of D4 would anyone done it compared to say loading back of D3/4 with heavier goods ...
reaching over it also aint so comfy and NO I would not get a D5 cos it is fugly as nothing else out there
and since you ask everyone is entitled to their own opinion

If it was half the size I’d have had to rename the Road Trips Road Diets.

Had a full length load deck so could sleep in her no problem. Just piled everything to the one side behind the Engel. Minimum effort, maximum results.

SWMBO moans about the tailgate, which all points to a RRS sport for her. When I can afford it.

A minor inconvenience, easily solved by keeping a light weight aluminium walking stick along the side of the boot and I can hook things out in a jiffy. With that minor inconvenience settled, it’s all good news from there

But what do you use the "in the way 98% of the time" thing for, that makes the struggle worth while.
