DRIVERS SEAT HEADREST REMOVAL |
|
I have standard seats, the headrests have OJ handles for rear seat passengers. I have removed the OJ handles but now, in spite of pulling, pushing, lifting, twisting, cannot get the headrest out. I have tried searching without success.............How do these b----ers come out? Need to change the seat covers and they are captivated by the head rests. Could cut them out but still couldn't get the new ones in.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Safe driving all. Life always good with a Landy

I don’t know they type you refer to but normally there is one post with a push button to adjust and the other has a release button which is more difficult to push in. Adjust the head rest up as far as you can with the adjusting side and then keep a little upwards pressure and push in the clip/button on the other post and it should lift out.

They do come out, someone on here removed them and turned them around so they didnt push his head forwards as per the std seats.
I can remember something being hidden but what I have not got a clue!

I don't think there's a clip on one side IF you have the genuine kit with screens.
If you look at the screen, the post on the right has a clip and push button the post on the left is different. The whole insert is extracted from the seat. There's pictures within this thread that should help: https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/retrofit-oe...2518.html?
If you don't have screens, I recall there's a slot rather than a thumb press which you need to press with a coin to release the headrest. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.

The reason the left retainer is on the headrest is because it has a screen. The plug on the cable is to big to be pushed/pulled through the retainer. You can still pull the whole headrest out but the cable is still stuck in the seat. In fact to remove the retainer, you have to remove the headrest as the post presses the clip and locks it to the seat.

Many thanks everyone for your time in replying. As I got back to the car two things happened. I virtually fell onto the solution (1) and (2), my Modem went down and I couldn't reply until now. As a couple of you stated, one of the vertical support rods has a slide lock sitting just below the leather around the rod. Push it towards car center and voila!, everything falls apart.
