What is a fair price?
Had me heart set on a nice tidy HSE but its becoming tiresome.
I like the look of this and it's 2 mins away from work so I can take a look and review service history and check when belts and oil pump were done etc.
If it all checks out what is a fair price?
£8k is extremely over priced for an xs, I know they'd probably point me straight to the door but is £6.5k a fair price, considering it's always going to cost a bit more from a garage?

I don’t think it’s particularly overpriced if it’s all good and had the important maintenance jobs done! D3 x2 now gone

It says it has 8 service stamps, but it should really have around 12, so i would check the service history out

Isn't '57 plate about the age for worrying about the oil-pump?

I would say its overpriced, but not enough to worry about, it looks like an honest car.
I wouldnt buy it purely becasue its black, black cars are a nightmare to keep clean.
On the plus side its got no sunroofs
But just as a comparison guy at work his sister just bought a 2012 D4 hse 8 speed for 12k with 130k on the tacho.

Just asked about the history over the phone.
It had belts and pump replaced in 2014, and the car sales guy claims they have just had an independent garage do the belts and pump before resale along with a service by Lindleys Autocentre.
He ran through the service history and it appeared to have been serviced religiously every 12,000 miles which took it up to 96,000 miles. It's just had it's 9th stamp by Lindleys at 102,000.
My concerns are that this isn't a LR approved garage or LR Independent Specialist who I'd typically have do all my work personally. My other concern is that all cars appear to be serviced prior to sale so do they even bother with actually conducting the work on most of them and just sign off that they have done the work.
I'm probably being overcautious but hey.
Not sure now.

I like it, more so because it has 4 matching correct (expensive) tyres on it.
Usually a good indicator of the level of care

D4 Rear lights, de-tangoed headlamps and different grill suggests it may well have belonged to someone on here? As per the other post, these upgrades plus decent tyres suggest it ahas been looked after.
Did SatNav on an XS come later?
My recently sold XS has nav.

May have been done in error it’s showing £7,950 now.
I thought the same regarding the pleasant mods and matching tyres. It’s exactly what I’m after having had recent belts and service also.
Missing a few bells and whistles from the HSE spec I was originally set on but I’m warming to it as I guess it’s less features to fail

An interesting question which I'm grappling with myself at the moment but from a different perspective.
I will be selling my 55plate D3 HSE soon.
It looks a little rough, but everything works on it almost all the time, it does have 4 matching Wranglers on it, and the engine still sounds sweet which I'm convinced is down to me changing the oil and filter every 7K miles.
BUT, it has 230K miles on it, although the engine was replaced under warranty at 37K and the Torque Converter was changed at @200K.
A dealer is going to give me almost nothing for it, which feels unfair to it have been such a faithful servant, but goodness knows how I'm going to come up with a 'fair price' for it if I sell it privately.
Nasher.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

WBAC suggested around £7k for my MY10 D4 HSE with 120k on the clock. I know that they're pitched low, but that might help give you a ballpark figure.
+1 for looking at getting a car from a member on here.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red
