| Newly added key only locks when close |

Hi,
I’ve searched but can’t find specific fault
2012 disco.
Recently added a key with gap tool.
Original key works as it should.
Newly added key unlocks car from a decent distance but won’t lock it unless practically touching the car. Sometimes I get the “smart key not found” message on the dash too. It always starts eventually by holding keyfob closer to the steering wheel.
Key is only an eBay special if that has an impact?
Any ideas?

Silly question but have you changed the key’s battery? It’s user replaceable.

I have tried that yes.
Although I’ve only tried a very cheap battery I had in the drawer. No change. I have ordered some Duracell 2032 batteries just to see if it helps though.
