Wading ?
I have a D3 with a properly fitted safari snorkel, my question is do i need to fit anything else ie: axle breathers or anything else or is this enough. Any help appreciated with many thanks Andy.

You should be right but the best action is not to get in deep water in the first place - there is nearly always another way around. Things like snorkels are a contingency in case all else goes bad.

if your going to use it for off road days and go wading for fun etc i would strongly suggest getting all the breather pipes extended and ensure everything else under the bonnet is as waterproofed as it can be.
Personally if i was getting a snorkel fitted i would also do the pipes as a matter of course.
other than that the D3 i believe has a recommended wading depth of 500mm (or a 1/2 a meter if you prefer) so in factory spec should be good for that.

Another that is mostly forgotten is that braking components will have all have been submerged in muddy water. The handbrake mechanism is often forgotten, and this will need more frequent inspection as a result.
There are an awful lot of electronic parts that do not like water. Be very careful as the D3/4 (and up), are nowhere near as happy in water as the earlier 200/300Tdi etc.2011 MY D4 HSE

Thanks for the replies to everyone, all noted and taken on board. I'm aware of the 500mm/half metre depth and to be honest that would be the most i would want to go to but was unsure about about breather pipes and so on.

The front diff breather comes nearly to the top of the radiator, the gearbox, transfer box and starter motor breathers come up at the rear of the engine, the rear diff breather comes up to the fuel filler flap area. If you're deep enough to trouble any of them in their standard positions, then you're already too deep.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

You could hang about floating and wait for the car to go into extended mode then stick it into super extended mode In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
