Reconditioned steering rack has wrong fluid
I'm about to pop in my replacement steering rack supplied by AF.
My system uses the recommended green stuff, and is mostly drained but of course there's always plenty left in the pump etc.
The replacement rack has red generic in it.
What's my best course of action here? Flush several times with green? Switch and flush with red? Which component is more sensitive to oil, pump or rack? Both?
If pump is sensitive then maybe best to flush with green leaving the return disconnected at the rack?
If rack is sensitive then maybe best to flush with red leaving the pipes off the rack all together?
Thoughts and suggestions please.
Cheers

I wouldn't be too concerned as the residual volume in the rack is likely to be small. The fluid present was likely used to test the rebuild.
You could try expelling the oil from the rack before fitting if you're concerned, but I'd reckon the much larger volume in the system will dilute the red sufficiently as to render it dissipated.
Personally, I'd be changing the cold climate fluid when fitting a new rack anyway, and then periodically every 3 years or so. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
