Transmission control module fault

2012 D4 157000km
While driving transmission suddenly did what seems like a very harsh gearghange ( harsh like older auto gearboxes did in "kickdown") . The whole christmastree lit up and multiple faults occured.
Car was drivable but D would flash on the selector switch and gearbox fault was coming up . Drove of the road ar first chance and ofcourse car would not move from there after I stopped it. It starts and everything is fine until I try to select gear . Wheel would jump back to park and all faults flash in the dash.

Did try the usual start/stop , disconect battery and brake switch without any luck . Screenshot of the fault codes from Iidtool .

I had to get the car rescued to nearest garage and get a rental . But I'm not sure if they are familiar with land rovers at all so better do some research . So any pointers ? Is the control module toast ?

Thanks
Jan

most worrying should be p0966-12 which according to manual if cleared and still shows up requires TCm replacement

also 850-64 might be pointing to comms issues between tcm and rest of system
loose connection somwhere?
good luck recovering it

I was kind of hoping someone would find some better news. . Any reason why the TCM should fail ? Is this the one behind the battery ?

If it’s the same as a D3 water ingress would be the culprit. Bonnet seal shrinks, opens a gap on the back corner and allows water to drip onto the tccm plugs. Kills the pcb inside.

Hiya Gary mate.

Yeah I bought a second hand one and it was showing signs of water damage also so ended up buying a brand new oem one. I’ve altered the seal on the bonnet now and intend to fit a bit of a cover over the plugs.

Ah so so to be honest. Bung you an email soon buddy

Hopefully things settling down next couple of weeks Thumbs Up

Hope all is good with you ?

Check regularly but never seen sign og water in there but never knows.
As I'm flying of to work the car is noe in the hands of what is hopefully a good mechanic. But I must say I fear they would spend hours doing diagnostic and/or just start changing parts at a hefty cost .

First garage gave up so now it is next to someone else. It was mentioned that it could be the solenoid and this means open up the gearbox

Me and my car is now 1200kms apart so I have to rely on a garage to fix it. Hopefully I can give them some pointers.

So it seems like the solenoid valve needs replacement at a cost of around 4400£ .. New gearbox 11500£. I blacked out a little while
