why does the new battery need setting???formerly Disco3Ben
It's one of the routines under the BCM. The D4 has a Battery Monitor System that maintains a state of charge lower than 100% to allow for the alternator to charge on over run. It needs to know that there's a new battery fitted so it can fully charge the it.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Sorted
Thanks for the directions, I changed the battery in the CCF. The battery fitted was a Varta 100/830amp ratings.
The CCF must have not been changed as it was set for ??/950 amp. My new battery is a little bit smaller, its the reccomended Bosch and it is a 95/800amp. I couldnt find that battery in the CCF so I went for the closest I could find that was a 90/800 amp. (Incidently it was £105 at Cosco)
The alternative was to make it unspecified and I havent a clue what affect that would have. Mind you I was tempted as I have a traxide duel battery set up now so the second battery must affect the cranking one when it comes to charging. Though I welcome your input on that
I have also found the setting in the service menu for the new battery and reset that now, I hadnt done it as I thought changing the CCF was enough.
Many thanks

£105 is very cheap for an AGM battery that size, is that plus VAT?It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
Am I reading it wrong or does the Costco battery guide list the wrong battery ?

Yes your reading it right. The guide is wrong. The chap in the shop checked the computer and it listed as to needing the S4013Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂
Which itself looks wrong until you see that despite having 013 in it's name, the battery is listed as "type 019" on various websites
