Wheel bolt woes!

Has anyone found some decent aftermarket wheel bolts to replace the crap oem ones?

I see Febi make some, as well as a couple of other manufacturers but their nearly £10 each!!

Lots of threads on this if you do a search… go for solid ones if you change them and throw away the locking wheel nuts !

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for the reply. I have searched but nothing directly came up, which surprised me. I'll look through the threads that do come up in greater detail.

Locking wheel nuts are a waste of time these days, not sure anybody steals wheels off a car anymore? Certainly not in rural Lincolnshire, anyway!

I bought these for mine.. not cheap but not the most expensive, do the job and the paint has lasted ok so far.. just check the finish in them when/if you get them as the seller is happy to replace marked or defective ones

Cheers for the link, I do fancy some black ones; less conspicuous against the black wheels.

I found these however, which whilst silver fit my budget a tad better and look solid. 22mm been the give away, as opposed to 23 on the horrid OEM ones.

It’s cheaper (or more cost effective) to buy a new set of nuts every time they swell, unfortunately. Whistle

I'd rather pay a bit more for a set that don't frustrate the crap out of me everytime I want to take a wheel bolt off to be honest! I'm sure there's a reason for their design, but I can't think why they'd design them with a cap that's soft, swells and makes them unusable!

I just bought a whole set off ebay. Cheap enough and when they start to swell i will replace them. Two or three sets will outlast the car, financially a better option then the expensive super duper ones everyone raves about.

I've also just bought a full set. Single piece, black steel from Amazon for about £40 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09SZ5WD53?psc...ct_details. Too soon to say whether they are any good, but they look and feel like decent quality. Cheap enough to replace again if they don't last and at least they shouldn't swell and cause problems.

Worth a punt for £40! Slight concern with rust on a couple of reviews but so long as they don't swell, I can live with a little bit of rust. Top of the list for next months vehicle maintenance budget!

Yes, you get what you pay for! I don't expect the black coating to last on them and I wouldn't be surprised if the rust started once the coating has gone. Also they are 22mm, rather than the OEM 23mm, so the factory-supplied wheel wrench won't work, if that is what you normally keep in the car.
