Dipsy dipping mirrors.

My 59 HSE has the memory seats etc etc function. This includes the door mirrors dipping down when reverse is selected, to show you the rear wheels. This function is associated with each individual key. IMHO it is most useless function ever. When I am reversing, I need to see what is around me etc.

So when I got the vehicle one key has this feature enabled, I soon disabled it.

until last night...............trying to reverse into a space in a dark pub car park in the hissing rain. The mirrors dipped........DOH. You can raise them manually, but the next time you hit reverse they dipped again.

So today, thought I would sort it in the computer memory etc.

Selected reverse, they didn't dip, tried with the lights on, they didn't dip. I suppose I could drive to a pub car park next time it rains at night, but that seems a bit extreme.

Any thoughts ?

maybe parking brake needs to be off? long shot

there are 2 ways to turn it off.

using the i button on the indicator stalk. going thru the menu.

or you can set the reverse mirror position to be the normal position. So do that for the drivers mirror.

The passenger mirror you may want a small dip. (though they appear to work themselves further down with time Rolling Eyes )

Hi,
had the "Lazy entry" function on a previous rrs that saves the seat and mirror positions to a specific key
we thought it was great, along with the mirrors dipping

as long as the Dip position is set correctly and not All the way down, you can set the dip position to what you want Question

Random movements and forgetting the saved positions ISTR is down to the memory module acting up, worth having a look for that.

Thumbs Up

Start the engine, select reverse, adjust the mirrors to where you prefer them, press memory on the seat controls, press 1, you should get a bong and a saved to memory 1 message. The mirrors will return to normal forward no 1 setting when you select drive and return to your no1 reverse setting when you select reverse, repeat for setting 2 if you need a different setting for when you are towing for e.g.. Second key can also be programmed the same way to suite the second driver with different settings.
Simple wonderful feature I wouldn’t be without Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
