EGR
Morning all.
Hoping for some advice please. I've not long had my Disco, and gremlins are starting
My MIL light came on a couple of days ago. I did a fault code read, and got the attached. I looked at the live data from the EGR valves (also attached) - I assume this indicates one is stuck/sticking? It looks like a challenging job, Britpart video shows degassing the air conditioning too? π

you don't need to degas on a D3
work can be done thru the wheel arch.
removing/ refitting the heat shields is the arch is probably most challanging!

Hi, looks like one of your EGR`s is stuck !!, sadly a common problem, I`ve just had one fitted by my indy last week. The problem at the moment is getting hold of a new one quickly, but as said above you don`t need to touch the AC it took a couple of hours to do the job.

Thanks for the replies, I thought it looked like one had stuck π Is there a 'how-to' article for the wheelarch approach? I've seen one on here, but it didn't go through the wheelarch.
You are probably right about the parts too π

I've updated now, when I joined the forum I didn't have one, and didn't think to update

Basically there are many heatshields in the arch that fit like a jig saw.
So mark the sheild first, i.e the order they are in 1,2,3 etc and where they join with a line -
Remove them.
Then an 8mm socket (1/4" best) and an extension about 18 inches long is very helpful.
Disconnect from the engine bay:
coolant pipes
connector
exhaust fitting at the back (this is a little tricky)
Undo 8mm bolts thru the arch and replace. 3 or 4 of them

Am I correct in thinking that βbank 0β is the left hand side?
That is the fault that I keep getting.
I took them both off last year and cleaned them, but 9 months later the fault is back. They both came out from above, the left one was most difficult, battery out and a few other bits, to get access.Simon.

thewhitefriar,
Majority of opinion on here will be to blank the EGR's not replace. Now that you've filled in your profile we can all see you've got an 08 D3 which means that you'll also need a software patch to remove the dashboard warning as blanking the EGR's won't fix the engine management light as @garrycol said
Search the Forum - loads of stuff regarding EGR's
