airbag removal,
hi, just a little problem, i cant get the airbag to part company from the steering wheel. i have read the very good artical where you make a tool using a stiff piece wire but when i put it into the slot in the steering wheel and push whist pulling on the airbag it just wont move. does it take mutch effort to remove also what bit is the tool pushing against inside the wheel, i know alot of members have done this before so any help will be apreciated.
many thanks, jim

Hi J,moore,
I found this to be a two person job. One gently pulls with both hands, while the other operates the tool. Anything biiger than a 3mm coat hanger will not work. I have tried. Although the tool bends, you have to push it slightly backwards(towards the dash) while the other person pulls the airbag towards the back of the vehicle.
As for the tool "engaging". You will feel when it is in the right spot, when it does not move when you gently try and pull it out.
Let me know how it goes. Why is the fear of long words called hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

You need to give it a good tug ....make sure the hook is facing towards you ...your trying to loop it under a small bar ..then pull the bar outwards (towards the wiper / indicator stalks)

look at the airbag resting on top of the steering wheel ..you can see the metal bar...G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

done it, went out today and whith the assistance of my brother i removed the airbag. just one point though, i found that i had to put the wire in through the slot hook it round the back of the wire clip and then pull, not push (my mistake), whitch releaced the air bag. there was not much effort needed and i didnt bend the tool. thanks everyone for the help, the photo was very helpful
many thanks, jim.
