| Will a 265/70/17 fit in the spare wheel bay on a D3? |

I bought a spare set of 17" alloy rims for my D3 and have shod with Grabber AT3s 265/70/17 and was told by the forum member that sold me the rims that this tyre size would fit into the bay. Howevthe tyre guys reckon they couldn't fit the wheel into the bay. Can anyone advise whether there is a way to make it fit?
Alternatively, I know that quite a few members run this tyre size and I wonder what they do about a spare. Currently I have it strapped down in the rear loadspace which is less than ideal. Seems to me that only other options are a swing away carrier or roof rack which are fairly expensive options on top of the £750 already shelled out on wheels and tyres.
Any ideas?

It fits as a spare deflated.

As above - I run this combination - deflate it right down and it will squeeze in. I see no ships........
