my engine anomaly comes back
disco 3 tdv6 of 2006, 200kkm, very charged (equipped raid)
it turns like a clock, except ...
... steady and steady speed on the highway
during a change of pace, in particular stress due to a slight coast, "ding" orange light engine anomaly, then loss of power, then black smoke
emergency stop strip, locking and unlocking, disappearing of the indicator, it is distributed again ...
to resume qq km away
it seems that this problem occurs even more when using cruise control
it happened to me after 1300km downhill France / Morocco
or during a recent test on 50km of highway, with valleys on the end!
someone would have a magic idea?

If the orange light comes on when coasting downhills it is probably the alternator. If the D3 alternator operates like most smart alternators then it has 3 modes. To save fuel the alternator does not operate at full capacity all the time ... just ~10 mins after start up to recover the starting power loss and then the maintenance mode until you back off the throttle then goes into battery charging mode (high output). If your alternator is faulty this high output mode cause it to produce AC ripple meaning instead of pure DC it produces a mix of AC and DC current. This won’t normally affect the big DC items (injector, fuel pumps etc) but plays havoc with sensors. If your alternator is about 8 years or 130k kms old it might be worth changing it anyway. You can change just the diode pack much cheaper by searching RN47 on here for the how to guide

I'm in Toulouse too.
I had similar when my fuel filter needed changing but it may not be exactly the same symptoms as you. If you need help reading codes, let me know, I have the MSV2.
