Unusual Tyre Wear - 1 Tyre Only - Assistance Please - D4
Evening all,
I have been having a problem with tyre wear on a 2016 Discovery 4, if you look at the image you will see that the tyre is wearing on the outer edge on the F/NS only, no wear on any other tyres.
Strange thing is that there is a definite line around the tyre, in the middle of the wear suggesting it is wearing at two angles (see close up).
The car has been into my local dealer (who I shan’t name just yet) three times, last time they inform me that they cannot find any fault and handed the keys back, they have contacted LR Tech assistance and they informed the dealer that if the tracking is ok then there is no issue.
The car has had a full Geo done three times over the last six months and each time the tracking has been spot on, so last week I took the car myself to the independent body shop the dealer uses after having 4 new tyres fitted, so we start from scratch and again tracking was spot on.
I have heard from a few that this could be bushes, the dealer won’t make any changes to the bushes until a cause has been identified.
After tyre rotation this has destroyed 2 tyres.
So any advice would help before I scrub the new tyres!

What pressure are you running at, I had similar on the car when I bought it with 275-45-21, my conclusion was pressure to low and hard cornering by previous owner, alighnment checked out ok, put new tyres on with 4psi extra in and problem gone. Looking at your tyre both outside edges are worn more than centres sure sign of low pressure.It can when others can't,

running at listed tyre pressures, I have had the car from all most new with 1500 miles on the clock and the tyres have done 38K before the problem started to show, interesting comment about increase by 4 PSI. could be worth a try

If you’ve done 38k miles on a set of tyres you haven’t done to bad. Are the tyres being rotated at service time? It can when others can't,

That is definitely not right.
I have just taken a set of 40k old wintracs off my MY16 today and had excess wear on the outer edge of both n/s tyres.
They had 3 to 4mm in the middle but had scrubbed out on the outer edge.
Oddly the offside tyres had worn fairly evenly.
I’ve got mine booked in for four wheel alignment on a hunter machine on Friday so I’ll let you know how I get on.D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.
I only work so I can afford to repair my Land Rovers!

they are being rotated at service, this problem has only been around a 4/5 month, i moved nearside back to front and within a 2-3K it had scrubed the outer wall.MY2016 Discovery 4 Graphite

Hi, sorry it took me a while to respond.
I had to go down to Cornwall last week so only had a chance to get the car checked today.
Mine was out on both nearside wheels so I was glad I had it checked.
These are my results:
This should hopefully save some uneven tyre wear.
If anyone needs a recommendation for alignment in the south east this was carried out by Hazel Motors in Chatham.
They have done three cars for me now and their knowledge and service has been excellent.D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.

My hunch would be that a worn bush was causing that tyre wear. I had similar on the front n/s with my D3 and that was the reason.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
