Confused about tyres

I have looked and I seem to be finding different info.

I have the 20 inch split spoke wheels

See Here:

They have 255 50 r20 tyres on, im going to get a new set of boots all round, prob gg gt.

In the wiki it says 275 profiles for 20 wheels. Im confused as some people fit 255 45 20 and other sites say different things.

Any one point me in the right direction please?

255/50R20 is the standard size. If the tyres you want are available in that size, stick with it.

Some tyres aren't available in that size in which case, 275/45R20 as an alternative is so close that you won't notice any difference.

I've just bought AT3's in 275 45 20 as they are the same radius as the 255 50 20 just a touch wider.

Considerably cheaper than the 255 50 20 too. £118/tyre off amazon delivered.

IIRC, 265/50/20 is ~.5" larger in diameter and width from stock. There are a few selections in that size as well. The Nitto G2, if available over there, is a good choice as well.
FWIW, there were not fitment issues on my FF with these tires (20"x8.5" wheel offset 58 ). Especially if you are looking for a little more aggressive looking tire. Thumbs Up

I did notice that the 275 is cheaper. And a slightly wider tyre will look better. So I may go for the 275 45 20.

Cheers.

255/55 20 also fit ok. Larger rolling radius than 50's obviously.
All down to personal choice really.

275 45 20 gg gt are 80 quid cheaper at my local tyre place for all 4. Seems a no brainier.

255 55 20 are nearly 50 quid a tyre dearer, and less choice.

Amazing what difference there is.

Beauty of having a D4 and an Iid tool you can set the tyre size up in the CCF to keep the speedo etc correct. I run 275-45-21 in summer as fitted to FF RR, 255-55-19 winter Thumbs Up

275/40/20 is the tyre for the RRS version of the D4 and many run 275/45/20 to get the extra bit of sidewall. As they're mechanically as good as the same vehicle, seems to me to be reasonable to use RRS sizes on the D4 if wished.

275 45 it is then. Why wouldn’t I to save 80 sheets. More money to spend on other mods now.

Cheers for clearing that up guys.

Only thing I would now check is the spec.

AT3s come in an H and V rating - think only £10 between them but difference performance

Diff between a 255 and 275

H is still 130mph, which you can't get to anyway. I bought H spec. £40 is £40!

Check that your insurers are happy with the modification from standard manufacturers specification. Thumbs Up

Indeed, but V is two stages higher over H in wet weather performance.
