Lost both keys, can my IID program a new key??

Hi,

Got a D3 SWMBO has lost both key 🙄

Can I use the IID to program a new key I have one off flea bay with a blade in it but it needed programming .

Problem was that this disco didn’t have cruise control so I bought a wheel with the switches on. But not fitted yet 🙄.

The laptop interface is rather £@&£ and it keeps crashing.

Just wondered if it was possible to do without an original key. I’ve added keys before with IDD but only with the original.

Any thoughts greatfully received.

Cheers,

When I programmed new keys with the IID they copied off a working key. Then could programme 2 additional new keys. Without that working key I wouldn’t have got started.

Might need one from main dealer programmed by them. Time to sell spare kidney me thinks. Big Cry

Unless I’m wrong. Whistle

I'm afraid DSL is correct, this is in the IID manual:

3.6.7 Body Control ECU
Key Programming (VIN locked L319-04)
An already programmed key is needed to begin the procedure.......

If you don't want to sell a kidney then I hope you can find at least one of those 2 lost keys,

If SWMBO lost the keys, it's only right it's one of her kidneys you sell. Whistle

What has a new steering wheel got to do with a lost key??
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

That’s incentive to get her searching a little bit harder. Laughing

Just playing with my Foxwell NT510 Pro and it warns that the key programming sequence will delete all existing keys and re-program them, so existing key will get deleted and re-added along with any new ones. Not sure how this work in practice as you will need to switch the ignition on I guess to get the unit to talk to to the BMU. But this also meant you don't need to have an original any paired key to begin with??
