The space in the D4 for the auxiliary battery is filled with all sorts of gubbins, so it looks like I will have to wire my winch into the cranking battery.
Can anyone who has worked out what all this extra wiring for the stop/start does, and what ratings the extra (on top of what was in a D3) in-line fuses are, tell me where would be a good place to take the feed from? The fuse on top of the stop/start battery is 100A, so are the others also as weak? It would be neat to take the winch feed from the box beside the stop/start battery that has lots of starter sized cable going to it, but which terminal can supply the needed 400 amps?
I am tempted to just tap straight onto the cranking battery positive - with an additional fuse for the winch. Has anyone done this and had no problems?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. The D3 winch kits always went straight to the battery, never had an issue
Great. I guess the big battery replaces the small one, but where has the big cube thing with all the starter sized cables gone . . . .?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. No little battery here, pre-stop start luckily. To get the 2nd battery in much ingenuity is utilised. Nothing major is unplugged, just moved around, the alarm sounder is relocated a bit further. Not by me I hasten to add, waaaaaaaaaay beyond my pay grade.
This is why I can't fit the auxiliary battery from the D3.
And this is what has happened beside the cranking battery. Below those extra leads there are three, maybe four, in-line fuses. But will the fuses sustain 400 amps?

I power my winch from the cranking battery. I fitted and in-line fuse and isolator and everything works fine.
I also have a battery in the rear cubby in boot .. old post
Nav. My aux battery behind rear N/s boot panel due to having stop start. Sits just behind the access cubby hole end on (Yellow top)Paul.

Any more info/pics on what went where Del?
Will see what pics I’ve got. It was all done by my good self, ably assisted by MrH.
And if anyone believes that .....
MrH was the magician that moved everything out the way, put in the wiring for the solenoid and all the bits and bobs required, I just put the wiring through the bulkhead into the cabin & wired it up to the relay output. All now taken out, will be flogging the kit off for a few sheckles, won’t fit in the Jazz.

Top man, thank you
I have all the gear out of my D3 ready to go in but I'm just unsure where to locate the existing bits that are in the way!
That system would take up most of the Jazz wouldn't it?!!

It would indeed. I’m even selling the Engel as for what i do it really needs its own power source for when not driving. That I can’t really see me having in either the Jazz or whatever replaces it (eventually XC60 or Karoq). Will also flog all the wiring, solenoid & batt for fitting into a D3/4, but later once down south.
Re selling Engel, I’ll be sadder selling that than I was the D4, however just can’t justify keeping it.
