Heater settings

In order to keep the cabin cosy, I have to set the temp to 24 (both sides) this is not hot by any means, it is about the same temp as I used to have on the last 2 air con Disco's (Both D2's) however these I set at 19.

What setting does every one else use ???

About the same. Sometimes hotter.

It seems to me that the system has real difficulty keeping the air near the windscreen and windows warm.

It also seems that it works better when there's a person, or luggage the shape of a person, in the front passenger seat. Confused

Agree, mine is at 24 and still feels chilly. Cool air blows from the face level vents and warm to the feet, makes it feel colder than it probably is. ISTR ages ago there was a TSB covering this sort of thing, anyone remember?

- TSB LA412-003 (foam 'sock')
- TSB LA412-001 (reload climate software)

Neither did any good for me.

Oh, another point about this (it used to be one of my favourite topics with my dealer Wink )

I put a digital thermometer on the dash for a few days - whenever I felt too hot or too cold I'd check to see what the thermometer said. It was always within a degree of what the climate control was set at Embarassed

I concluded at the time that I was imagining the problems, but I think cfb is on the money:

I am glad its not just me, I noticed the face vent only (mainly) blow cool air, when the screen and feet blowers are hot.

Confused Mine refuses to blow warm (or any!) air out of the feet vents. Even when manually selecting the lower outlets.

It also seems to get progressively colder from the top vents as the journey goes on, until I reach the stage when both sides are at 26 ... then I just turn the whole thing off Neutral

Anyone else suffering this same affliction?

It's booked in for this on Monday.

Mine is set for 74 Rolling with laughter

Seriously though, it sometimes seems to me that the longer the trip goes - the center vents start blowing out cooler air. And like some of the others have stated - forget getting anything on the floor - very little air - warm or cold coming out there.

Yes, I have found the heating system a bit odd. In the winter I normally wear a coat anyway and have the setting at about 18 or 19 in our other car but it always warms up quickly. The D3 has felt a little colder (especially if its minus 12 outside) but the blowing out of cold air seems unpredictable. Sometimes, when the outside temperature is warmer, it will blow out warm air! I leave the climate control on auto. To be fair, none of the windows has ever misted up.

I've only had the car for three weeks (600km on the clock) so I am still getting used to it. Still can't work out whether in the infamous FBH is working or not and whtherthis should impact cabin temperature Confused

The cold air to your face is intentional. Cabin is heated through footwell, windows kept fog free from top vents and fascia vents let you breathe. At different times each one needs to be a different temperature to do its job. The face vents remain most constant 'cause you don't want to be gagging on hot air as your interior heats up.

I have mine set at about 20 - 23 depending on how many layers I'm wearing. I always put it on Auto then drop the fan speed down to 3 once a comfy temp has been reached so its not so noisy. All the other settings continue to be managed by the climate control so temp is still maintained.
