D4 Adaptive idle values and vibration
Hi folks I have a 2012 discovery 4 3.0 and wondering if it is possible to adjust the idle. Mine appears to be too low I.e. 750rpm when at idle and I am getting vibration coming through steering wheel, seats and occasionally the dash. Happens whether cold or warm or in drive, park or neutral but only when stopped. Have had engine mounts and maf sensor replaced but hasn't helped at all. Mechanic said the rpm is on the low side and should ideally stay around 780-800 but says he can't fix it. This doesn't sound right to me.
Having looked on the forum, it appears I am not the only one with this problem but what is common is that there are more questions than answers to this issue. I am wondering if this problem is as a result of my wife now driving the disco in city stop start traffic and it has picked up some bad behaviour. Previously it did mainly highway driving.
Thoughts, suggestions most welcome before I take it to another mechanic for a second opinion ..

Mine ticks over at 720rpm, according to my iid..... I noticed a lot of vibration on tick over when I first got it, cured it by changing the orange exhaust rubber mounting.

No fault codes appearing. Interesting about the orange rubber mount. Will have to get under the vehicle to see if I have the same. Mechanic said he checked the exhaust in case it was touching the chassis but it wasn't.
Was the vibration before you changed the exhaust rubber coming thru steering wheel and passenger seat

Pay attention, if you run the car during hot days with the A/C on "Auto" or "ON", the engine idle is higher. try to switch off the A/C.Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

It's winter in Australia at the moment but even if I put the aircon on, it makes very little difference ie hardly noticeable in rpm and still feel vibration.
maybe run a tank of injector cleaner and see if that makes a difference?--

Has had professional injector clean and also running diesel additive in fuel. Appreciate the suggestions and keep them coming.

No vibration through steering wheel but was very noticeable through the whole of the car on tick over. I still have an issue with vibration from the exhaust but not felt through the car now. Sounds like I've got loose baffles in the centre silencer but when the exhausts is lifted slightly by hand, the noise stops.... but can't see anywhere where the exhaust is touching. I have noticed that the brake lines running to the back of the car aren't clipped back and they do rattle between the floor and heat shields, but that's not gonna cause what your experiencing so I won't bore you with it

I hear your frustration. I guess I will just have to live with it.

I have this vibration on tick over (quite loud) so I went under the car for a poke about.
A firm finger on the exhaust box by the compressor and all is well again so I think its the exhaust mounting rubbers as stated in a earlier post.Disco 4 2012
