Re-spray door or leave scratches as they are?

Just had my drivers door "keyed" Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad at Chadstone car park on the weekend... Can't understand what motivates the grey matter between the ears of feable minded dimwits to vandalise someone elses' property by running a key along the length of a door??

Regradless, job's done and now I have to decide whether to touch-up and leave it or respray the door and both adjacent panels. Has anyone used the mobile paint touch-up people?
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

scumbags Evil or Very Mad

If its down to metal, I'd get it resprayed ASAP, before the cancer sets in.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Yes - here in the UK a couple of times & the results are very impressive - there are franchised guys that go to main dealers & sort thier new delivery cars + others that owners take in. The methods they use leave no trace & cost far less than a panel respray - these always look different especialy if its metallic / pearlescant paint
I would be very surprised if there isnt a crew doing this as a businees in Oz.....I would only use touch up pan as a tempory measure....hope this helps

Look in Yellow pages, net & ask around the dealers.

Said it many times SMART repairs have NO longevity if your selling great if your keeping get it Polished out to the best effect and live with it or a professional repair (Full panel with blends)

SMART repairs will bloom over time

I got the details of the local paint touch up man in West Yorks from an LR dealer - they (& many other dealers) use this service on both new (before delivery) & used vehicles. The reason was stated to be "much less cost of repair" as various parts of the airbag/s system don't need to be disarmed for the bake oven & the end quality of repair (which I witnessed as being "invisible"
Longevity - well I suppose its a wait & see exercise with the repairs you know about - the likelihood is that some could have been done before delivery - you may never know.
The repairs I have had done looked A-OK after 18 months
 BREXIT - done properly.

Annoyingly,LRA don't bring in paint kits or spray cans anymore Rolling Eyes

I got a cousin in Widnes Cheshire to post me an Atacama sand kit from Guy Salmon Knutsford.

Thanks for the tips guys,

Fortunately my panel repair from last year has developed some defects in the paint and after seeing the LR approved panel beater this afternoon he has agreed to respray the affected panel for nothing and also repair the scratch for a small fee.

Regardless, i think I would have gone the whole hog and had the door re-sprayed...

Cheers and here's to running over a vandal.. Exclamation

Thumbs Up

Ken,
Please refrain from dropping the Aussie thread to the same standard as the UK ones by using the ever increasing personal attack that some of the more vocal and long standing identities seem to do.
It is becoming increasingly off putting to see this in the other threads.
IF your comments were in jest then I apologise in advance for taking them the wrong way Very Happy .
 regards
Peter
