Servicing is the key to reliability and long life
Having been a member of many forums and Facebook pages for some time now, one thing that has come across to me as being fairly obvious is the need to almost over service our TDV6/8's.
With this in mind we have added Service Kits again to contain quality Granville Engine oils.
Another interesting point to make is that vehicle manufacturers used to stick with one supplier for all four filters on a particular model, today it seems that’s you can have 4 different suppliers for the same model, also with this in mind we have chosen for you the premium brands, this may mean a mixed brand service kit, or 3 of one brand and 1 of another, we have done this with quality and price in mind.
Mahle was the Original Equipment oil filter supplier for the TDV6, if you buy an oil filter from a Land Rover Franchise, and open the box you will find a Mahle branded oil filter inside, although you will be paying almost double for the privilege of a white box with some green writing on it.
Here are two examples of up to 2007 and 2007 on service kits for D3 LR3 service kits with oil, the only difference in the two kits is the fuel filter changed after chassis number 6A999999:-

Just bought one of these kits last week actually. A little disappointed the cabin filter wasn't carbon impregnated but otherwise a decent kit.

Hi
Yes that's good feedback, thank you.
We do state in the description that it comes with a standard cabin filter, there are in fact three options for the cabin filter standard, carbon, and the new MAHLE CareMetix Anti Allergen & Soot Cabin Air Filter, obvious big jumps in price each time, and could over complicate things, will give that some thought.
listing:-
Kit contents:
Oil Filter
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Standard Cabin Filter
Sump Plug with Washer
6 Litres of Granville Hypalube A5/B5 5w/30
The actual cost of a standard cabin filter is low in comparison to the other items, so we do get orders for a kit + a carbon or Caremetix.Paul Redding

Yes, you are of course 100% correct. I missed that completely. I think it was the "Premium" wording that got my expectations up
I would personally rather pay the extra for the carbon one but appreciate you can't have tens of different kits to accommodate all preferences.

Oil
Hi
No sorry no plans too, please remember that all oil comes out of the ground, in a virgin sate and then is refined, cleaned, graded and then various chemical packs added for different grades & specification, providing the brand you use meets or exceeds your specification, all is good. Moving with the times, grades move too, so A1/B1 is now A5/B5 which is a newer spec but covers the older spec and is a higher grade/specification.
tbf i beleive that you pay more for the packaging (Brand Name) than the oil contained within, nothing between any of them, in my opinion.Paul Redding

The dealers rely on the mysticism that what goes on under the bonnet is Wizardry that nobody else can possibly understand.
