D3 10 years old, The future.. advice wanted.
So bought and in love with my new 57 plate D3 (who
my 3yrs old daughter has named Robbie Rob) and my
Question Id really appreciate answering by you guys is this: Will my D3 be
around 5,10,20 years from now if I maintain it like a
Defender or is the future of the D3 the scrap yard?
Will it be a classic?
Please bother to answer if you have a valid opinion it will be much
appreciated!!

Maintain it like a Defender, and it will fall apart, just like a Defender
If you do intend to keep it for a long time, I'd strongly advise having some rustproofing done. It won't be cheap, but it will save it from the scrap heap...
My own car looked like this:
After a bit of scraping and wire brushing:
While it doesn't look good, it has been caught early enough, and with a decent treatment, will last a long, long time My D3 Build Thread
Is the Disco1 seen as a classic? Arguably not, but depends on your definition.
Will you even be allowed to own and run a diesel engine in a private vehicle in 20 years time?
Will you be able to get some of the vehicle specific parts?
I'm going to suggest that no, it's not going to be a classic and all UK Disco 3s will be scrap fodder within 10-12 years.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I’m with Nodosh on this. I don’t think it will be corrosion that kills most Disco 3/4’s. It will be the availability of affordable parts and the cost to fit them, for a complex vehicle, which has a limited value.

There’s a few handsome Disco2 still around (mostly in black)
now 15 odd years old starting to edge towards the classic zone
But I take your point about emissions etc. I don’t like the newest Discovery
I think it’s become more “family car that you can take off road “ than
“Off road vehicle that can take a family “ and that’s sad.

True but for Euro 6 + cars. Euro 3 and 4 cars will be taxed out with LEZ charges. The Government is pushing councils to do more on air quality and do it quickly. Expect to see a rapid rise in LEZs in the next two years.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Would that not be the same for all the old/classic cars anyway?

Agreed, keeping it long term assumes nothing big and spinny doesn’t stop playing. Engine and gearboxspring to mind, my engine died 4K miles after I had the gearbox reconditioned. Money right down the pan. Don’t make the mistake I made and assumed she’ll live for ever.
