Discovery 3 Xenon LED DRL halo conversion
On Sunday I installed some halos in my D3. 4x120mm rings in the headlights and 2x80mm rings in the fog lights. Took a while ( 7 hours ) but was well worth it for the results. I had already had the lights apart previously to de-tango them when I bought the car back in Stepember. This time while doing the halo conversion I also sprayed the inners which are screwed into the front cover gloss black which I personally think is an awesome look.
I managed to get an ignition live to run them from an unused plug located behind the front grill which was handy.
This conversion could be done on a model with halogen lights but I think you could only install one halo in each headlight rather than the two in mine.
The pictures have uploaded the wrong way around. I was trying to show the stages you need to look from bottom to top

And let's face it. It looks much better than the front end of a beemer and looks a lot meaner

Well done Chris, looks very nice!
Which plug you used for live ingnition? Front PDC may be?
You drilled the rear of your headlamp or is possibile use the factory plug for go out with the new wires?

I brought the wires through a small hole in the rear of the headlight next to the indicator cap which I drilled myself and sealed it with silicone. I put them on plugs incase I need to remove the headlight in the future and I linked the fog light halo onto the same plug. I then brought both sides of the halo wires together and joined them in another plug and linked them into the unused plug behind the front grille.
The wire becomes live when I unlock the doors which is handy at night. Once I switch off the engine or lock the car they stay on for around 3 minutes until the wire is no longer live

There's people on eBay charging £250 to £400 to do this conversion and that's not including doing the fog lights like I've done

Aaaaahhhh. Why could I not have seen this earlier. That looks fantastic.
I had my lights apart today for a detango and had toyed with the black idea. Even used black tape on parts to see what it looked like. I was not sure but seeing yours on a completed car is as I said fantastic...

Chris - how did you get the fog lights apart please? I want to add LED halo DRLs to the fog lights on my D4 but having just tried the hair dryer trick to try and remove the glass from the front the 'glue' holding it in did not soften and I am now left scratching my head as to what to try next.
Any hints or tips from you or others much appreciated.
