Annoying squeaking o/s rear wheel
Developed a squeak that comes & goes. Seems to be coming from offside rear wheel - squeaking stops when braking. After a long trip wheel in question was quite hot.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Richard.

Hello mate... I had this problem on mine and it was the spring that goes through the back plate pulling the hand brake shoes tight to the back plate it was weak causing the shoe to come out wards slightly rubbing on the inside of the disc, fitted a new shoe fitting kit and it sorted it not saying this is 100% your issue but sounds about the same.
I've also done a few with the same issue at wok!
Also done some with siezed callipers but this would result in smoking from the wheel and plenty of dust all over the wheel (more than the other 3) but I would got for t he 1st option especially with the squeak
Hope this helps -J-

Hi J,
Thanks for the info. Going in for service next week but think I'll take the wheel off & check it out myself. Doesn't sound too expensive - makes a change!
Having belts done early with service so can't afford any more big bills before Christmas.
Thanks again
Richard.

I have the same symptoms on my OSR wheel.
Can anyone advise of the part number for the fitting kit I would require please.

[quote="RBP"]Hi J,
but think I'll take the wheel off & check it out myself.
You will also need to remove the relevant rear brake disc to take a look at the spring fastener mentioned earlier......seems the likely culprit.Discovery 4 HSE SDV6

What exactly was causing the squeak?- nothing on a calliper that can squeak! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had same problem. Spring clips had deteriorated allowing shoes to move.
