13 pin electrics
I have a Land Rover approved fixed tow bar with 13 pin electrics fitted to my 2015 discovery 4 SE Tech when I attached my 7 pin with adapter tow bar bike rack to the electrics it turns off the rear parking sensors but when I plug in my 13 pin caravan electrics it does not, I picked up the discovery just under 2 weeks ago from a Land Rover dealer and they told me they had checked the towing electrics and everything was working fine, is it to do with the fact one is 7 pin with an adapter the other 13 pin?
I know I can just switch them off from the dash but I presume if working correctly they would turn off the sensors when my caravan is connected

Just reading along, cause my 13-pin also does not switch off the parking sensor.
Will check for the 7-pin adapter this weekend

What caravan is it, does it have LED lights if so there is the problem, the car does not see the caravan due to LED's. Swift vans cause a lot of these issues amongst othersMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Yes to both it’s a 2017 swift conqueror which I am sure has led lights
Is there away around this or is it a case of turning off the sensors from the dash

The car detects a trailer by checking for an electrical load on the indicator circuit. As LED's are very high resistance and very low current it can't detect them so doesn't think there is a trailer attached.
Fitting resistors to the trailer's circuit to mimic a filament bulb should solve the problem.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Seargent do boxes to plug into the wiring in the swift to overcome this issue, I have a spare one from memory VMC3 but will check later, if this is of use sure we could do a deal for a few beer tokens. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Does this affect the tow assist functions if there is no van detected?

Yes I believe it does, the van does not show on the dash as connected to the car so it will not adjust it’s gearing suspension etc to take towing into account, spoke to a tow bar fitting company earlier who confirmed this, I also spoke to Sargent electrical who do all the electrics for my swift who confirmed that it needs an additional box fitted in my caravan to allow the discovery to see my caravan I now have this on order

Hi All,
Interesting discussion. I tow a lot of boats and other stuff where I use a light board. The board has LED lights on so probably not being detected by the system as discussed above.
There was mention of using a resistor in the circuit to solve this. Any advice on values and location required for the computer to see it?
