Gearbox fault hdc not available. |
|
Hi we have a 2011 discovery 4 HSE. It has recently developed an intermittent fault. When the car is started and either drive or reverse is selected we experience a louder than normal thump in the gearbox, then either forward or reverse is engaged but a gearbox fault HDC not available message. This is sometimes coupled with the hand brake not releasing properly. This fault happens in about 1 in the very 5 starts. If you turn off the ignition, restart and wait for the full system check it seems to go back to normal. We changed the battery as it was very old. The fault is still present. I would be grateful for any help. I have a PO915 error on one of those dongles.
Any ideas where to start.

I used to get an HDC fault on my Freelander 2 I had an additional earth strap connected ( I think it was connected to the alternator) and I never got the HDC fault again and the car started much better especially in the cold.
