Auto lights retrofit
One for the GS and commercial owners out there. Massive thanks to Beanie to help me source correct parts
I am looking to update the front bumper to have fogs and parking and I realised the switch pack that I had bought had the option for auto lights too - and as it was there I wanted it to work!
I got a smash to the windscreen so took the opportunity to get LR to order in the high spec windscreen - its the one with the rain sensor on their system .
Parts needed:
Headlight Switch
Mirror with auto sensor connection and with cover to hold rain sensor and cover wires
Rain sensor / light sensor
New windscreen

Before windscreen fitted:
For the headlight switch replacement you just need a sharp pull on the trim to unclip which to allow you to swap over the switch (the piece on top of the dash on pic below and ignore all the other goings on!)
Make sure you have the loom in the headliner - its the black one and grey/red ones you need. There is a nib in the headliner that you can feed these through easily
Old windscreen with loom connections pulled through
New windscreen - note connections for mirror and sensor
Finished effort - took fitter less than 1 hour to fit this morning and auto lights working fine - will ccf rain sensors to be on too to see if that works

is the same as in the D3, I installed it several years ago and Geoff. activated it ..... everything works ok, rain sensor will work fine of courselost in translation!

hello, can I only install the mirror with the sensor for the headlights without the rain sensor?

Hi. Thanks for the post. How about the D4? Can I retrofit the auto without windscreen?

the only thing you need the windscreen for is having the correct attachments for 1. Mirror and 2. Sensor .... if by some magic you can get these attached on your GS mirror then yes it will work ... you'll need the updated mirror, sensor and switch pack thoughStolen - D4 Loire Blue

I think these are minimum things you'd need ... and like I said key would be for getting that rear view mirror attached as I think it will be a different connector to the one you use nowStolen - D4 Loire Blue
