Engine overheat quickly then suddenly drops
Hi guys
Just driving home from work and about 10 mile into me journey and the engine temp gage on dashboard suddenly increased up to the red in about 3 seconds from normal. Stayed there a few seconds then decreased back to normal in about 3 secs. Happened twice
Back home now and I opened the bonet and released some pressure from the water resorvoir, I couldn’t see no water start with them as the unit depressurised the water began to pour into the container although it was boiling. Any ideas ????[/i]

Plenty on here know better than me but I'd suggest a compression test and a sniff test to rule out a head gasket failure

Well after the water filled up from when I unscrewed the cap and released the pressure it quickly went back down again. It took me 2.5 Kettle’s to fill her up although I can’t see any leakes.
Never had any issues with her before around this area, only thing I can think off is few weeks ago I did empty some Wykes water treatment stop leak treatment into the water - why I don’t k ow as I had no issues and it was a freebie from old stock.
I’ll keep an eye on it going forward
(Also notice the small black screw cap at the front of the container - wonder what that’s for, ) ???

Just curious, but where did you fill it up to, only 2.5 kettles worth sounds a lot.

Hi, just in me drive at home. Removed the blue cap on the container and topped her up. Defiantly the water container. As I poured it in it kept draining but then after 2.5 Kettle’s later it was up to the max line. I did check underneath to make sure it wasn’t leaking but no bone dry.
Little confused but watch this space
